Power & Energy Systems and Support to Communities In-Person
Dr. Ning Kang, Department Manager for Power and Energy Systems (PES) in the Integrated Energy and Storage Systems Division at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), will present an overview of INL and an introduction to her department and their work in the last decade to support various communities in their clean energy transition while boosting the resiliency of community energy systems.
For 75 years, INL has been home to scientific innovations in advanced nuclear, renewable energy and security solutions across its world-class research campuses and facilities.

Dr. Ning Kang is the Department Manager of the Idaho National Laboratory’s Power & Energy Systems Department. Ning also serves as the Department of Energy (DOE)’s Grid Modernization Laboratory Consortium’s Flexible Generation and Load Pillar Lead, one of the six pillars under DOE’s Grid Modernization Initiative. She is the main creator of an open-source T&D systems co-simulation software (TDcoSim) and holds five U.S. patents and one U.S. patent application. She has co-authored more than 55 journal and conference papers, book chapters, and technical reports. Throughout her career, she has been invited to serve as session chairs, plenary session and panel speakers, as well as lecturers at more than 25 national and international conferences and meetings. Her research interests include clean and renewable energy resources grid integration, power systems reliability and resilience, and energy system decarbonization.
